For our customers who will be driving great distances they want more then a bottle of fix it flat in their tool kit compartment. As seen we have built a spare tire well for a small space saver tire to mount in behind the seat of a Custom Street Rod Truck
2 We cut a hole in the floor and mounted the tire well and then braced the floor around it for extra support. Bob then built an additional support that mounts from the floor at the well to the center cab brace. He then machined an aluminum spacer with threads to accept a bolt in order to mount the tire securely.
3 Another view shows the mount ready for initial test fit.
4 In addition we mounted an inertia switch to the bracket to shut down the fuel injection system if ever there was ever an accident.
Using a center line racing wheel rim from a list of drag car front tires we were able to mount the space saver on to a light weight rim and have our cake and eat it too! She looks good, removes easily and clears the back of the seat nicely.
