Dash

As seen the factory dash is a bit short looking and after we installed an A/C system you can tend to see the bottom of the box. By lengthening the dash a little we will cover up some of the box and make the dash look more symmetrical at the same time.
1. The dash on this Galaxie looked a bit short from the factory which also exposed the new A/C box. We decided to lengthen it a bit and add vents for the Heater and A/C.
2. As seen from the side profile about 3 inches was added.
3. We built bracing on the back side to keep it all reinforced and included oval holes to run duct work to the new vents.
4. Oval A/C pockets were fabbed in to the panel to accept some traditional louvers we purchased to give her that original look.
5. The glove box is where most of the work was performed. In order to get it to swing down and clear everything we had to rebuild the entire hinge assembly to work in conjunction with the added length and clear the remaining dash section.
6. The glove box and its hinge/opening section was massaged quite a bit and required about 60% of the work done to the dash upgrade.
7. It fits well and closes nice.
8. All ready to go.
9. The added length fits the car better and once painted black she will look like it came from the factory this way. As seen below you can not see the bottom of the A/C heater box as before.
10. The steering column cover fits flush due to the recessed edges Lou put in the panel.
11. The steering column to dash cover fits nice and is ready to be refinished.
13. Lengthened dash now needs blasted and prepped for paint.
14. Dash vents look good and we are ready for refinishing!
15. The dash was body worked and ready for primer.

Dummy Radio

1. The original radio will be in place but will only be a dummy in order to provide clearance for other items under the dash. So it must be modified.
2. Modification needs to take place. Using various radios with NOS parts we start the process.
3. Slice and dice etc.
4. Much smaller to allow space.
5. Detail needle black instead of orange.
6. Coming along.
7. What a difference between the stock size radio on the left and the modified for clearance unit on the right . Once the knobs are chrome plated we can final assemble before install.

Odometer

1. Original odometer getting a retro fit of upgraded gauges from Classic Instruments.
2. A hold down template was made first.
3. As seen slightly larger opening then the stock ring.
4. Made in aluminum to get the job done.
5. In place, wired and ready to disassemble, prep paint reassemble for installation.
