50 Ford Truck - Fender Liners
Custom inner fender liners are an option that many customers are now choosing to have fabricated for their special project. We cut them out in 20 gauge steel and then ran the outer edges through the power shrinker. As seen this raised an arch shape which makes a perfect fit to the inside of the 50 Ford fenders.
We duplicated the same for the other side and then a center section was tack welded in place to build a wheel tub that custom fits. The main reason for inner liners is to protect the body and paint work from rock dents etc. This is an insurance part for people who like to drive their vehicles in rough areas. Full inner liners were not standard equipment on passenger cars until the early to mid 60s.
On the rear liners we fabricated brackets that will bolt to the frame allowing easy removal. This keeps the liners from putting any stress weight on the outer fender thus eliminating any movement to the paint work in the future.
A rear view of the passenger side shows a cut out section that is for clearance of a custom battery box we installed behind the rear tire.
The front fender liners have different brackets built for them as they attach to the inner engine side aprons.
Installed the front liners look good and will protect the outer fenders from any rocks that will ever be kicked up from the tires. Cheap insurance to say the least!
